One of the great things about the landscape workshop was that we timed our outings around the hours of "golden light", sunrise & sunset! That made for some very early mornings but it was so worth it. Our first stop was Zion National Park, just in time for the sunrise. And did I mention it was cold???
Tripods and long exposures were necessary to capture the dawn light. I love these images as they are but I also want to point out that they illustrate a good point, something that applies to weddings too! I was really focused on capturing the top image, the sun coming up between the silhouette of the mountains. Thankfully, I pried my gaze away for a moment and looked behind me. The light from the rising sun was just starting to illuminate the opposite ridge.
Lesson learned...when you are so focused on what is going on in front of you... take a moment to turn around and see what is going on behind you!
